<image:title>Services - Postpartum Focused Visit.</image:title>
<image:caption>My desire to offer postpartum focused visits comes from my own experience as a new mother. I had prepared extensively for the birthing process but was incredibly unprepared for the fourth trimester. The emphasis most providers place on labor & delivery yet barely mention the 3 months following, is a considerable void in healthcare. Not understanding my needs postpartum and the various new experiences that come daily, I felt as if I had been left to fend for myself without many people to turn to. Now that I have completed deeper work in how Chinese Medicine can provide relief through postpartum, I want to educate other new parents about this beautiful and often difficult time. We also offer gift cards for this service to give to someone you love that is expecting. Please contact us with questions. Learn More</image:caption>

<image:title>Postpartum Care - The Golden Month.</image:title>
<image:caption>The Fourth Trimester. Postpartum. Sitting the Month (Zuo Yue Zi). At Copal Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine we feel this delicate time after baby is born is a considerable void in our current healthcare structure. Modern medicine spends a substantial amount of time focusing on pregnancy and the birthing process, yet hardly mentions the days & months afterwards. In fact, most birthing parents do not see a healthcare provider for six weeks after giving birth. We offer in office postpartum treatments. Feel free to bring baby with you to your appointment. You can come early to feed baby, so they can sleep in the treatment room with you, or bring a friend or family member with you to stay with baby while you enjoy your treatment. Taking time to nurture your body after giving birth is deeply important. See how we can help below or contact us with questions.</image:caption>

<image:title>Postpartum Care - Postpartum.</image:title>
<image:caption>Life with a new baby is all the wonderful and difficult things your family and friends told you it would be. In Chinese culture, the time after birth is called Zuo Yue Zi, or “sitting the month”. Many cultures have variations of this tradition where the parent rests after birth for a period of time. This is viewed as the most critical time in the health of the new parent. These 30-100 days are filled with lots of rest, nourishing food, and help from family, friends, or the community. Too often in Western culture, we feel like we need to “bounce back” after birthing a baby. We feel pulled to be out in the world, our newborn strapped to our chest, introducing our newest love to the outside world. Or maybe we do not have the privilege of taking time off at all and are forced back to work out of necessity. The truth is, you need to rest, eat, cuddle baby, feed baby, drink water, and be still. We typically recommend that folks focus on healing and resting those first months, but if you find yourself in need of care please consider adding us to your care team. Gift cards are available as a beautiful way to honor a loved one’s journey into parenthood. Call or email with questions.</image:caption>

<image:title>Herbal Medicine - Herbal Formulas Tailored to Your Body.</image:title>
<image:caption>Chinese herbal medicine is almost always used as a formula, instead of a single herb. These combinations of herbs are put together very specifically to address the dynamic of disruption in your body. Taking herbs along with regular acupuncture treatments can be significantly more powerful for healing certain conditions. Talk to us to see if herbs are right for you. It is important to note that not all herbs are appropriate for all people. Even seemingly simple herbs like ginger, turmeric, and ginseng can be inappropriate for certain body constitutions. Often times the “wellness industry” will take a supplement/plant/herb and tout its health benefits as a “superfood”, but this one size fits all approach to anything isn’t always the best idea. Please consult a professional herbalist before taking an herb.</image:caption>
